Due Date: July 2, 2011. 34 weeks to go!
Symptoms: NAUSEA especially at night, super-sonic smelling, fatigue, chapped lips, bloating
What's different this time: My breasts are not really sore at all and haven't changed size - maybe because they are already doing the nursing thing? My morning sickness started about a week earlier this pregnancy.
Cravings: I really wanted Ramen today and even went out to buy some for lunch. Weird. And not dietitian-approved. Oh, and then I thought about eating Nachos Supreme at Taco Bell (something kind of scary that I last ate over 2 years ago) and really wanted some of that. SOOOO not dietitian-approved. Baby wants sodium-laden crap?

Aversions: Lots of things are now on the unacceptable list. The thought of most food grosses me out - even dessert. Vegetables - especially orange ones - are particularly gag-worthy. Salad is completely off-limits. There is a box of organic Annie's white cheddar mac & cheese in my cupboard that really makes me want to die when I see it.
Sleep: Pretty good. Bella is back to sleeping through the night, although I'm still trying to push her sleep back with daylight savings. I'm also using her naptime to attempt to take a nap myself.
I am loving: That I got to reveal my pregnancy on the blog.
I miss: Not wanting to gag most of the day.
I am looking forward to: Feeling better in, uh, 3 months.
I'm spazzing about: The morning sickness getting worse

Best moment this week: Going to my first pre-natal yoga class.
Milestones: Morning sickness. Woot.
Movement: Not yet.
It's a...: I think girl right now. Husband thinks boy.
Exercise: I ran several times for very short distances (1.25-2 miles) while pushing B in the stroller. I don't want to give up running, but at the same time, it's hard to deal with the extra-pukey feeling after running. I also did one yoga class.
Diet: Went from healthy and chock-full of vegetables to bland and lame. I do find eating really frequently (like every 1-1.5 hours) helps, but I worry this is going to get me gaining weight way too fast. I'm going to focus on getting protein in regularly as that is supposed to help with the nausea, but it will be a challenge since most protein foods are gag-worthy. I am still eating 2-3 servings of fruit a day, so that's good.
Goals for the upcoming week: Figuring out the best way to eat to calm the morning sickness while still being as nutritious as possible. But also acknowledging that a vegetarian version of Nachos Supreme might meet that criteria.
Belly Shot: Gah. Awkward early and bloaty belly picture.

Love the updates! Can't wait to live vicariously through the next 34 weeks! Are you going to keep the same outfit for the entire pregnancy this time too? I thought that was really cool last time.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am going to do the same outfit (although the pants I'll wear were in the wash so I subbed other ones today). You better believe I chose VERY CAREFULLY this time after squishing my body into that tank & shorts last time. Ha! I was actually going to skip the whole same outfit thing, but Husband pointed out that it would bug me later on. He was right - it totally would!
ReplyDeleteI noticed the same thing about the breast soreness...I remember them being soooo very tender during my first pregnancy. It was one of the first symptoms I had. This time I didn't have much breast tenderness at all...just occasional uncomfortableness. I also noticed that they didn't balloon up in size either (well, until more recently) like last time. I wonder if it is because they were already "working boobies"??
ReplyDeleteAs for ms cures...I don't really have any, but I found drinking smoothies (banana peanut butter and fruit yogurt smoothies) were easy to get down and pretty good for you.
dang girl, you fine! your tummy, 6 weeks preggo, is mucho flatter than mine. impressive!
ReplyDeletedo you think you'll pop a lot quicker this time? that seems to happen, but doesn't look like it so far!
totally weird how veggies seems to be a super common aversion. (while fruit is a super common craving.) any ideas why? i couldn't even THINK about veggies my whole pregnancy. i'm still not ok with some of the green stuff...
love the updates!!
Mama Tully - Thanks for the smoothie idea. That actually sounded only slightly vomitus (vs. completely vomitus) and I had it twice today. I even threw 1/2 packet of Carn Inst Breakfast in the second one I made for extra va va voom. That seems like one way I will be able to get the protein in!
ReplyDeleteBJA - I do think I'll pop quicker. I'm already really letting my gut hang out in preparation. Ha!
So here is what dietitian Laura has to say about veggie aversions during pregnancy: Since vegetables often have a bitter flavor there is a theory that the body is designed to reject any food that might not be safe to eat (think Caveman days and bitter foods = DEATH). Fruits get the go-ahead because sweet is generally a safe thing to eat. A great theory, but it sort of fails when you consider that orange vegetables - carrots, squash - are the most potently-gag-inducing of all to me, yet they naturally contain a good bit of sugar.
