I finally got around to that run today after being unable to for the past two days due to extra feedings (hello 6-week growth spurt!) and family visiting. But I dare say it was worth the wait. To run after being unable to for several months was FREAKING AWESOME. Having a full lung capacity was practically orgasmic. I ventured to the other side of the river, which I literally have not been able to do on foot for weeks and months. I felt great and it seems like getting back in shape will not be too difficult.
Oh, people. I feel like I'm back. It's such a good feeling.
Here's my exercise plan for the week. I'm putting it in the sidebar for extra incentive, although I feel pretty motivated to squeeze in exercise. It's not only scheduled "me" time, but it's pretty much crucial for my mental health. Plus I think it takes the edge off the sleep deprivation.
Sunday - Walk/Zumba DVD
Monday - Couch25K Week 1 #2
Tuesday - Walk/Zumba
Wednesday - Couch25K Week 1 #3
Thursday - Walk/Zumba
Friday - Couch 25K Week 2 #1
Saturday - 30 Day Shred Level 1
Now some help from the blogosphere. Does anyone own Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown? Yay or Nay? Also - I need to fill up my iPhone with more running music. My tastes tend towards the pop variety but I'm open to anything that motivates, which ranges from a peppy country song to electronic music. Right now I have the following on there:
Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5
Blow by Ke$ha
Knee Deep by Zac Brown Band
Firework by Katy Perry
I Wanna Go by Britney Spears
What are you all listening to these days?

Elmo's Song, Alligator in the Elevator, and Wheels on the Bus ;)
ReplyDeleteSorry, not much help in the music department, BUT happy to hear that you are feeling UP and just wanted to say that you look fabulous!
I still wake up most mornings and give thanks for the ability to hop out of bed without aches and pains. Pregnancy is certainly worth the end result, but man oh man it can be TOUGH physically and mentally.
Gosh, this post ALMOST makes me want to run! But, I won't. I blame my knees. and I guess I can blame pregnancy too, but not really quite yet.
ReplyDeleteI always personally like some old school AC/DC...
I have "Ready to Run" from Runaway Bride. And for me "Bad Day" (you know, American Idol's old song) is a good starting pace for me.
ReplyDeleteLet me know any others that motivate you!
I love to listen to 90's rap when I run. I'm also enjoying Paper Planes by MIA, anything by The Black Keys, and anything by Cool Kids.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first run back! That's got to feel good.
Oh, I love running music ideas! My favorites are almost anything by Justin Timberlake (listening to the silly song Damn Girl makes me smile while running), Starlight by Muse, Gold Digger by Kanye West, Breakin' Up by Rilo Kiley, Mattress by Atmosphere, and almost anything by The Killers. I just added Firework, some Mumford and Sons, and Rolling in the Deep to my playlist.
ReplyDeleteMama Tully - That's exactly why I need suggestions! It's so rare I get to listen to music of my choosing. As far as post pregnancy thrills for me - I am reveling in how much better my sleep quality is now compared to while pregnant. I will take this kind of crappy sleep over pg crap sleep any day!
ReplyDeleteEveryone else - thank you soooo much for the suggestions!!
As much as I hate to admit this, pretty much anything off Britney Spears new CD is pretty amazing for the working out. Also, if you want some good upbeat music, check out DJ Earworm. Sounds weird, I know, but he does super amazing music mixes every year and you can download them free from his website. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWOW! That is amazing. I love that feeling when you're "BACK"
