Today is photo heavy. It will wane as the week goes on...
5:45 AM - My alarm goes off. I NEED that time in the morning by myself and will obviously go to great lengths to have a moment alone before the day starts. I drink some coffee, take care of the cats, start up some laundry, and then try to tackle my Project 52 for the week.
6:30 AM - Oliver wakes up and I nurse him and we play a bit until it's time to wake up Bella, who has been sleeping in our bed these days. Having the kids share a room is still not a successful thing - he wakes up and bleets too much. It will be tricky to switch her back to the kids room, but I do confess to enjoying the short-term cosleeping. Helps that we have a big old king-sized bed! Oh and WHY we are waking her up is because she has resumed napping!! For this week at least... It works as long as she doesn't sleep past 7 am.
7:30 AM - B-fast. B usually eats half now and then saves the rest to eat as a snack at 9. She's such a good eater that I am very lax about staying at the table & focusing on the food.
Oliver drops his sippy cup four million times. This is such a messy stage!
8:30 AM - Post breakfast playtime & planning. I figure out the meals for the week along with a grocery list. After that we put our schedule for the day up on the white board. Bella likes knowing what comes next.
8:40 AM - Head upstairs to start winding Oliver down for his nap. Dancing ensues. Notice the excellent window coverings. You can find garbage bags like that at Home Depot, in case you wanted to pin it on Pinterest to do yourself.
9 AM - Oliver goes down easily for his nap. I get Bella set up with her Dora for the day and make some scrambled eggs & sliced apples for myself, knowing Bella will probably want some (she does).
11 AM - We drop Bella off at the neighbor's house and Oliver and I head to the grocery store to pick up a few things.
11:30 AM - Decide to take advantage of my time with only one kid and the nice weather and do a Couch-to-5K workout. I do my shorter 2 mile loop that takes me over the Stone Arch Bridge. I stop to take a picture of the Mill Ruins.
12 PM - Just Oliver and I for lunch. Avocado, sweet potatoes, beets, and blueberries for him and tuna salad on lettuce with chips for me.
Seriously so messy. Probably doesn't help that I give him foods that are so colorful! He only throws his sippy cup 20 thousand times, versus the four million at breakfast.
1:30 pm - Right after Bella gets home, Oliver goes down for his second nap. Bella then tries everything possible to delay her own nap. In the end she does go down (success!) but Oliver wakes up shortly after (ARG!). I quickly take him from the room to keep her from waking up and he's clearly still very sleepy as I'm nursing him. I manage to get him to fall back asleep on my chest - this hasn't happened in months! Maybe he's getting sick? Or his molars are coming in?
4 PM - I wake up Bella and she crawls into my bed next to Oliver. Her outfit was part of the delaying before her nap :)
4:30 PM - Head outside to get rid of some lingering crabbiness and enjoy the weather. We try out all the new toys from the consignment sale.
6 PM - Husband/Daddy arrives home. He takes this picture of B while I get dinner ready. Independent play is slowly but surely starting to happen. Sometimes :)
Dinner = Chana Masala from the freezer over brown rice, Trader Joe's Palak Paneer, cucumbers, yogurt. Oliver LOVES the chickpeas and cucumbers and signs for more.
6:30-7:30 - Oliver goes to bed. I take a shower while Bella hangs out in the bathroom with me. Then fix-it girl helps Husband installs a safety gate on the window while I clean the disaster that is my home. I don't bother cleaning much during the day.
8 PM - I finish cleaning and start blogging & do some email catch-up.
9:45PM - Um...how did I think I would have time to blog & put the photos from week in the life into Shutterfly each night? Oy. Oh well. Husband and I watch Mad Men while I eat dessert (chocolate mousse-type thing). All in all, today was a pretty good day.
9:57 - Nevermind - Mad Men will wait until tomorrow. We are exhausted. To bed we go.

I am saddened to know that I have at least another month of dropping EVERYTHING :( But on a completely random note, the pajama bottoms that Bella has on in her nap with Oliver pic in your bed...Leigha has on the same pair tonight LOL with the little green froggy top. I couldn't think of where I had seen them before and I just went in and nursed her and saw them and remembered. :D LOL (Sorry, I think of super random odd things when I am getting off work LOL)
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was a good day. Oliver looks so grown up all of a sudden...I think it's because he has more hair? Super cute! You are so lucky to have neighbors with little ones. All our neighbors have kids that are a bit older. And we haven't done a drop off play date yet...I was actually wondering how old kids are when they start going to their friends to play without parents. Any day now, I guess!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the rest of your week. Today's post reminded me that I want to join you so I got the camera out as soon as I saw it. Thanks for the reminder!
Stephanie - Well Oliver just started with the dropping stuff - maybe Leigha is nearing the end? Ha :)
ReplyDeleteMama Tully - I should probably have clarified that this isn't the usual kind of playdate. It's a neighbor whose sister & her niece/nepehews visit who are Bella's age. My neighbor "requests" Bella to help keep them entertained (she's a novelty - haha) and we have been friends with this neighbor for years now so I feel comfortable. I guess I never thought of it as dropping her off at someone's house even though that's what it literally is! But I'm about 200 feet away so it seems like less of a big deal :)
Oh yay, I'm glad I'll have daily posts from you to entertain me this week :) I'm planning on joining in, probably on Thursday or Friday (then you can be featured - how meta)
ReplyDeleteLaura- I would love to know more about writing the schedule on the white-board for the day. What led you to try this? Do you think it helps with easing transitions for Bella? How closely do you stick to it? We have trouble at times with Charlie freaking out on non-scheduled days and having trouble with down-time and transitions....and this made me think that a schedule of sorts might help.
ReplyDeleteErin - And you will be featured here so extra meta. Meta squared!
ReplyDeleteKatie - Bella does decently well with transitions, but I think it helps her to know the flow of the day, especially on the days that Abby comes to babysit. That throws her off. Plus Anil traveling can throw her off. Another motivation was me putting naptime/quiet time down so she KNEW it was a mandatory part of the day. So we started doing it a few weeks back and she enjoys it. I want something more Etsy-ish, but this works for now!
