Thank you all so much for the advice on shoes & accessories on the Dress Me post. Very, very helpful for the fashion inept like me.
I ended up going with Tia's suggestion for nude heels. To me, it struck that desired blend of something slightly unexpected with the LBD, trendy, sexy, but not too young. Plus - I can wear them again and again. However, I still lust for hot pink heels. Or maybe Big Leather is lusting for hot pink heels. (Big Leather lives on!)
For accessories, I picked up a fun bracelet at Forever 21 and left it at that.
We started our date at a restaurant closer to the new house. It was our first time getting to explore the area without kids in tow. Lots of fun dreaming and I had a lemon drop martini and delicious artichoke dip that I scarfed down. I was totally overdressed for this part of the date, but oh well :)
Then we headed back into the city for our dinner at Nicollet Island Inn. I don't know if they changed chefs or were having an off night, but it was not the exceptional experience we have had in the past. Husband was bummed that his salad sampler was so tiny (with one wee crumble of blue cheese - ha!) and my french onion soup tasted like straight up syrup (blegh). But overpriced food aside, it was so great to be on a date.
After dinner was wandered along the river for a bit. A last hurrah to this neighborhood before we say goodbye in a few weeks.

Glad you had a great date night despite the overpriced food!
ReplyDeleteYou look great!
ReplyDeleteFun! You look awesome! Makes me want to shop at Forever 21 and get some nude shoes too! (But my heart is longing for some blue shoes.)
ReplyDeleteYou looked smashing on your date! I have been lamenting a pair of nude heels that I got rid of a couple years ago b/c I wasn't ever wearing them. I thought they were too plain. Now I see them in every magazine or catalog I look in, they are all the rage, and I want them back! Oh well. Glad you guys had fun!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the nude heels were an awesome choice!!! And I love that bracelet!!! I'm glad that you guys had a good time, even if the food wasn't as good as you remembered. OH and that last picture of the city and river is AMAZING!!!! I think I may steal it to paint it (I like to paint landscapes LOL)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! You look fantastic, by the way.
ReplyDeleteYou are smokin'!! Love the fancy arm candy too...and I don't mean the sparkly bracelet ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit and all the pictures. The last one especially is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks all. And that last picture is such a classic view of that place - I'll miss it!
ReplyDeleteWe're going on a date (to Manny's, with gift cards we've had for 3 years?!?!) on Saturday, and this is inspiring me to actually consider wearing something pretty. Not sure I even have anything though. Might have to hit up my much more fashionable sister.
