I will be doing my quarterly Day in the Life post this week and it will be posted by this weekend. If any other blogger wants to play along, all you need to do is pick one day to document & post between now and Sunday, January 20. Email me the link at navigatingthemothership @ gmail.com by Sunday night and I will put together a round-up post on Tuesday, January 22 with links to all of the Day in the Life posts.
The Usual Fine Print
- Pick a day between now and Sunday, January 20 and take pictures all the live-long day. You might want to keep notes of what goes down so you don't forget later on when typing up the post. I often will take pictures that I know I won't use, but will serve as a reminder of what was happening.
- Make sure to include pictures of YOU during the day, even if that means mirror self-portraits (turn the flash off!) or using that good old timer. And don't forget to include pictures of the mundane - your make-up on the bathroom counter, the messy office desk, your lunch, what you bought at Target, a note your spouse scribbled for you. That's part of what makes it so interesting.
- It's up to you how detail-oriented you want to be. I go detailed, but there is no need for you to do the same.
- This is not just for the mommy blogger set. I actually prefer it to be a mix of people in all different sorts of lives. And please, please, please play along if you live outside the US & Canada! I heart you, foreigners.
Round-up posts:

I love the day in the life posts! I can say that I have never participated before because it would just be a bunch of pictures of my dogs and there is a thin line between a lady with dogs and a crazy dog lady. But, I am happy to say that come your summer series I will have a baby to occupy my time and I am already looking forward to sharing my days with everyone.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to do a Day in the Life post! I think that I will have you take you up on the round up!
ReplyDeleteI'm in! Did one back in October when I first made my blog public, but didn't have you link it. Tomorrow's my birthday and if I can get my act together, I think I'll do one tomorrow! Thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking it was time for another one of these. Now, I just have to pick a day.
ReplyDeleteI'm in! Looking forward to it :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm in! One of these years I will get all 4 done in the span of a year and I will be SO proud. :-)
ReplyDeleteWEIRD - last time you did this, Ben was gone for a weekend, and he is again this time. So strange! I'm weirdly paranoid that if I do this again it will somehow cause some member of my family to start puking. So we'll see.
ReplyDeleteExcited to see everyone's days!
ReplyDeleteMrs. G - CONGRATS!! And I would actually say that you should so do a day now and then also in the spring. You-in-a-year will be fascinated by what you used to do with all your time. Promise :)
Erin #1 - Happy B-day!
Erin #2 - Hello, weekday documenting! You have a new job with new and interesting desk & location, etc etc. And you could have Ben also take pics that day, including at his work...something to show the kids someday? Also - weekday vs weekend should be enough to ward off voms :)
Hmmm. I'd like to do this again (I did it this summer but not at the same time as your round up) but I fear my overall negative outlook on January would be a real downer. I'd either document a whole lot of grumpy or...lie. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to make it happen this go 'round! :)
ReplyDeleteOK, yeah, I PROMISE I'm going to do it this time. I am going to make time to do it LOL.
ReplyDeleteI am in again so get ready for lots of snow pictures!
