I had mentioned we had our eye on this piece in this post from June. We decided to finally go for it and Raj picked it up in time for my birthday, which was on the 8th. I think it will make a faboo photo prop, too. It's fun to imagine all THREE kids sitting on it.
We are the slowest ever when it comes to purchasing furniture or making improvements or decorating in any capacity. I'm not quite sure why we are so unmotivated, but I think it boils down to the fact that we just don't really care. I love the look of nicely decorated spaces and I would love to have one, but...eh. It's just not our thing.
(Then I start to ponder what is my thing is and my answers usually reveal that being lazy is my thing. And then I feel medium bad about it but not bad enough to do something about it.)
However, I would like to put more effort into getting our space closer to our (murky, unclear) vision of our dream home. I am dead set on the fact that once the nausea is over I will be bouncing off the walls with glee and happiness and will have an abundance of energy to put forth. This happened the other two times, so I'm banking on it happening again.
So then we can flesh out the rest of the space with rugs and paint and bookshelves and pictures and it will be lovely. We will also need to accomplish 100 other things before life goes on lock-down for two more years. Get ready, Raj!
Another house project underway includes ripping out the entire basement carpet and replacing it with a pet-friendly wood-looking vinyl plank floor. I know that vinyl is hardly a dream flooring but we have to be practical. No more carpet down there and I don't want to put in expensive hard wood to have it ruined from the cats. We are looking at "luxury" vinyl planks so it's definitely a step up from peel-and-stick vinyl tiles. I think it will be cozy and quite nice looking once we add in some rugs. We also have dreams of putting in a fireplace in the family room and getting a big old TV for movie watching.
What I'm really obsessed with right now is doing a major cleaning on our central air. We noticed a mild musty-ish odor when we moved in last summer but it's was mild and not a big deal. We have changed the filters regularly (royal we...totally Raj's deal) and had all our ducts & furnace cleaned this spring after the dead-mouse-in-the-wall incident but the smell remains. And now that I have preggo nose from hell the smell from the central air is overpoweringly stinky to me, although it remains mild to others. So I want to keep the air off all the time. However, with a heat advisory going on, we MUST have it on.
I spend my days walking around my house with a peppermint-doused handkerchief tied to my face.
Wild, wild west.
